"Pray" Japanese calligraphy



"" (ki, inori). It is translated as pray, entreat, beseech.

This character is written by Kanzi,
Regular script.

Etymology : Phono-semantic compound
斤 (ax)  +  示 (show)


"示" means that intention of God is shown.
"斤" means an ax used in the ceremony of the sacrifice.


"示" is used for "
神 (God)".
It is used in a holy kanji.

  2. Inside this Kanji it seems it is concentrated the origin of all religions: God will listen at man's pray, if the man offers some sacrifice. In the real, no one can assure it is in such a way.
